Command Biographies
HMHT-302 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Gerrid M. Gall

Lieutenant Colonel Gerrid Gall is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated with distinction from the Virginia Military Institute in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. Following Officer Candidate School completion, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 2005. In 2006, he was an honor graduate of The Basic School and reported to Pensacola, FL for aviation training. He promoted to First Lieutenant in 2007 and designated as a Naval Aviator in 2008. 

Following completion of CH-53E training at Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron 302 (HMHT-302) in 2009, First Lieutenant Gall transferred to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462 (HMH-462) aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA. He promoted to Captain and attached to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165, the Air Combat Element (ACE) for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15th MEU). In 2010, the 15th MEU deployed aboard the USS PELELIU in vicinity of Africa, Asia, and Australia, and conducted humanitarian assistance in Pakistan. Following the 15th MEU, Captain Gall deployed twice with HMH-462 to Afghanistan, in 2011 as the Communications Officer, and in 2014 as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer. While at Miramar, Captain Gall also served as the Marine Aircraft Group 16 Future Operations Officer.

Captain Gall transferred to Quantico, VA in 2014. In 2015, he completed Expeditionary Warfare School as an honor graduate and then transferred to the 24th MEU aboard Camp Lejeune, NC, also earning the Forward Air Controller Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). In 2016, he promoted to Major and dual-hatted as the Air Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. With the 24th MEU, he conducted humanitarian assistance in Haiti and deployed aboard the USS BATAAN, supporting combat operations and training exercises in the Navy's FIFTH and SIXTH Fleets.

In 2017, Major Gall transferred to HMH-463 in Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the Director for Safety and Standardization, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. In 2019, Major Gall attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 in Okinawa, Japan and dual-hatted as the CH-53 Detachment Officer-In-Charge and ACE Operations Officer for the 31st MEU 20.1 patrol aboard the USS AMERICA. 

During 2020, Major Gall attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA. Major Gall was an honor graduate and Gray Scholar, earned a Masters in Military Studies, and attained the Space Operations Staff Officer MOS. He then transferred to the Deputy Commandant for Information’s office in the Pentagon. Major Gall served on the Vandegrift Team, working on strategic competition. In November 2021, he promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to MAG-29 in Jacksonville, NC. Lieutenant Colonel Gall assumed command of HMHT-302 in June 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Gall’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight Numeral "6"), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two gold stars), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two gold stars).
