Sergeant Major Boley is a native of Monroe, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 26 June 1999, where he attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego. He later attended his Marine Occupational School (MOS) in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri where he earned the Military
Occupational Specialty of 3531 (Motor Transport Operator) and subsequently was assigned to 3d Marine Division, Combat Assault Battalion, Okinawa, Japan.
Sergeant Major Boley's assignments include Combat Assault Battalion, Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 in Okinawa, Japan, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Logistics Operations School at Marine Corps Combat Service Support School, Combat Logistics Battalion 6, 2d Marine Logistics Group, 3d Law Enforcement Battalion, United States Army Sergeant's Major Academy, 2d Marine Division, and the School of Infantry-East.
He has served as a Motor Transport Operator, a Medium Section Platoon Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Detachment Commander, Detachment Commander, MCESG Instructor Advisor, First Sergeant, and Command Sergeant Major.
His assignments as a Sergeant Major include 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment as well as Headquarters and Support Battalion and Infantry Training Battalion, at the School of Infantry-East.
His operational tours and deployments include multiple operations throughout INDOPACOM, numerous tours in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and multiple tours and locations around the world with the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group to include Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Yemen, Portugal.
Sergeant Major Boley's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of forth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
