Command Biographies
HMH-464 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Eben C. Buxton

LtCol Eben Buxton is a native of Virginia.  He graduated from George Mason University in December of 2004, earning his commission through the PLC program in 2002 and 2004 and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in January 2005. After completion of The Basic School and Naval Flight Training, he reported to HMT-302 on MCAS New River, in Jacksonville, NC for CH-53E Super Stallion training. 

LtCol Buxton completed CH-53E training in 2008 and reported to the HMH-466 “The Wolfpack,” where he deployed twice to Al Asad, Iraq in support of OPERATION Iraqi Freedom from October 2008 to March of 2009 and then to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION Enduring Freedom from December 2009 to July 2010.   During his time at HMH-466 LtCol Buxton served in various assignments to include Adjutant, S-2 Officer, Current Operations Officer, and S-4 Officer.  

In March of 2011, LtCol Buxton reported to 2d Battalion, 4th Marines, in Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as the Battalion Air Officer and deployed to Musa Qaleh, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION Enduring Freedom from August 2011 to March 2012.  
In June of 2012, LtCol Buxton returned to HMH-466 for duties as the Assistant Maintenance Officer before attending Weapons and Tactics Instructor course in Yuma, AZ in the spring of 2013.  In January of 2014, LtCol Buxton deployed to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan as the Tactics Officer and Assistant Operations Officer for HMH-466, returning in June of 2014 to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA.

In June of 2015, LtCol Buxton reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One, where he assumed the duties as both an Air Officer Department Instructor and CH-53E Instructor Pilot.

Upon completion of duties at MAWTS-1 in May 2018, LtCol Buxton reported to HMH-464 and assumed the duties of Operations Officer followed by Executive Officer.  Completing a successful department head tour, LtCol Buxton assumed the role of Operations Officer of Marine Aircraft Group 29 from December 2019 to December 2020.  At the completion of his time as Operations Officer of MAG-29, LtCol Buxton reported to II Marine Expeditionary Force in the G-5 Plans section before returning to MAG-29 to assume command of HMH-464 in December of 2021. 

LtCol Buxton’s decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Strike/Flight Numeral "8", Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and various unit and campaign awards.
