Major Heath Jameson earned a BA from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1997. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August 1998, and subsequently completed The Basic School in April 1999. Major Jameson attended Primary and Intermediate flight training in Corpus Christi, Texas, and advanced flight training in Pensacola, Florida, where he received his wings in March of 2001.
He trained in the CH-46E at Camp Pendleton, California, and upon completion, was assigned to HMM-268 at MCAS Camp Pendleton and assumed the duties of Embarkation Officer in October 2001.
In January of 2003, HMM-268 was forward deployed to Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and subsequently supported Operation Iraqi Freedom until September 2003. Upon return from Iraq, Major Jameson assumed the duties of Aviation Safety Officer and attended the School of Naval Aviation Safety. Shortly after assuming this billet, Major Jameson was forward deployed a second time in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2-2 from August 2004 to March 2005. After returning from his second deployment to Iraq, Major Jameson was selected as the Flight Line Division Officer for HMM-268 and was forward deployed a third time in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7 from February 2006 to September 2006. Throughout this period Major Jameson participated in Casualty Evacuation and Combat Support missions to include Operation Phantom Fury, Fallujah.
From September 2006 to July 2009, Major Jameson served as an Instructor Pilot at Fleet Replacement Squadron HMMT-164. He initially assumed the duties as Logistics Officer and later became the Director of Safety and Standardization. Additionally, Major Jameson filled the billet as the Fleet Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Program Model Manager.
In 2009, Major Jameson was selected for Intermediate Level School, and in July of that year, he detached from MAG-39 and reported to Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia. As a Command and Staff Scholar, from August 2009 to June 2010, Major Jameson earned a Masters Degree in Military Studies.
In July 2010, Major Jameson joined HMM-364 where he initially served as the Director of Safety and Standardization. From March 2011 to June 2013 he served as the Aviation Maintenance Officer for HMM-364 (REIN) during the 15th MEU aboard the USS Peleliu (LHA-5).
From June 2013 to July 2016, Major Jameson served in a Joint Billet at Headquarters United States Africa Command, J5 Strategy, Plans and Programs. He initially served as the lead planner for Team Libya General Purpose Force followed by an assignment as the lead Action Officer for Defense Institution Building in Africa. During his tour at Africa Command, Major Jameson attended the Joint Forces Staff College and earned his Joint Officer Qualification.
In August 2016 to present, Major Jameson joined Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 and serves as the Executive Officer. He has compiled more than 2,800 mishap-free flight hours and is qualified as an Air Mission Commander. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight numeral "18") and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Second Award).
