Sergeant Major VonDras reported for recruit training in September 1996 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego CA. Upon completion of Recruit Training in December 1996, Sergeant Major VonDras proceeded to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California.
In January of 1997, Sergeant Major VonDras reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort McClellan, Alabama for military police training. In April of 1997, Sergeant Major VonDras received orders to MWSS-172, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan and was reassigned to the Provost Marshals Office, Camp Courtney where he served as Patrol Supervisor and Desk Sergeant.
In April of 1998, Sergeant Major VonDras was ordered to Military Police Company, Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, where he served as a Patrolman, Watch Commander and Special Reaction Team member.
In September 2000, Sergeant Major VonDras reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Military Police Instruction Company, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Primary Military Police Instructor. During this assignment he held the duties as Instructor, Senior Instructor, and Curriculum Developer.
In August of 2003 Sergeant Major VonDras was assigned to Military Police Company, HQ Bn, MCB Hawaii and served as a Watch Commander, Special Reaction Team Commander, Training Chief and Company GySgt.
In February 2006, Sergeant Major VonDras reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG), MCB Quantico, VA and served as Detachment Commander in Budapest, Hungary. In 2007 Sergeant Major VonDras was reassigned to HQ Co, MCESG as an Instructor/Advisor at the Marine Security Guard School and in 2009 assumed duty as the MCESG Recruiting, Advertising, and Screening Team Chief.
In May 2010 Sergeant Major VonDras deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF as an Individual Augment. While deployed Sergeant Major VonDras served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Director of the Afghan National Police Command Center and Personal Security Officer.
Sergeant Major VonDras returned to MCESG in November 2010 and assumed duties as the MCESG, Co First Sergeant. In March 2011 Sergeant Major VonDras was reassigned as the MCESG, Region 6 (Western & South Africa) First Sergeant until June 2011.
In July 2011, Sergeant Major VonDras reported to 5th Bn, 10th Marines, Camp Lejeune, NC and served as the Battery S First Sergeant.
In January 2012, Sergeant Major VonDras was reassigned to HQ Battery, 10th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC as the HQ Battery First Sergeant.
In September 2013, Sergeant Major VonDras was reassigned to 2d Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC as the Battery L First Sergeant.
In January 2016, Sergeant Major VonDras was ordered to his current assignment as Sergeant Major, HMH-461, MAG-29.
